1931–32 Mansfield Town F.C. season
Mansfield Town Football Club are an English football club from the former mining town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Formed in 1897 they originally played in local leagues, before becoming one of the larger non-league sides of the time. A Fourth Round FA Cup run in 1928-29 was not enough to get the Stags elected to the league, however a change of tactics (applying to the southern section, rather than the northern section) two years later worked. Mansfield Town would compete in their first season as a League club in 1931-32, in the Southern Section of the Third Division. As a League club, Mansfield would also receive a bye to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup. Mansfield's manager for their first League season was Jack G. Hickling, who also served as secretary.
